Two Truths and a Lie: What Every Student Should Know 榴莲视频直播 Academic Success

September 10, 2026

By Sarah Cuevas Micu

Can you spot the lie?

  1. The most successful students wait until they're struggling before asking for help.
  2. You belong here, even if you're still figuring things out.
  3. Academic support can help you build skills that last far beyond this semester.

If you chose #1 as the lie, you鈥檙e right.

One of the biggest myths in university is that successful students do everything on their own. In reality, many high-achieving students use support services before they need them. They meet with tutors before an exam to review concepts, visit a writing tutor before submitting a paper, or meet with an academic coach early in the semester to create a plan for success.

They don鈥檛 wait for things to fall apart. They take proactive steps to stay on track.

Truth #1: You belong here, even if you鈥檙e still figuring things out.

We often look around and assume everyone else has it figured out. The truth is that most students are learning as they go, just like you!

Here at 榴莲视频直播, you are a member of a learning community. Asking questions, seeking guidance, and using university support services are normal parts of the learning process. Academic belonging isn鈥檛 about knowing all the answers but recognizing that you are a valued member of this community and that support is here for you.

Truth #2: Academic support is for everyone.

Some students believe tutoring and academic coaching are only for students who are failing. That鈥檚 simply not true!

ASC services are for students who want to:

  • Prepare for an upcoming exam
  • Strengthen a paper before submitting it
  • Create a study routine
  • Improve time management
  • Better understand course material
  • Stay motivated and accountable

Using academic support doesn鈥檛 mean you鈥檙e struggling. It means you鈥檙e investing in your success.

Truth #3: The skills you build now will stay with you.

The Academic Success Center isn鈥檛 just about helping students get through one assignment or improve one grade.

We are all about helping students develop skills they鈥檒l use throughout their college career and beyond:

  • Critical thinking
  • Time management
  • Effective study strategies
  • Organization
  • Confidence as a learner

Every tutoring session, coaching appointment, and study plan is an opportunity to grow, not just as a student, but as a lifelong learner.

One Last Truth: You don't have to do college alone.

The students who succeed aren鈥檛 necessarily the ones who never need help. They鈥檙e often the ones who know how to use the resources around them, connect with their learning community, and ask for support before challenges become obstacles.

You belong here.

When you need support, the Academic Success Center is here to help you thrive. We offer walk-ins and appointments, and you can meet with tutors and coaches online or in person.

Her journey in academic support started as a student employee in a writing center, where she discovered she loved helping people build confidence as much as she loved helping them improve their papers. As a CRLA Level III Certified Tutor, she is passionate about helping students discover that success isn't about having all the answers, it's about knowing where to find support. When she isn鈥檛 cheering students on, Sarah enjoys family adventures with her husband and son, playing soccer with more enthusiasm than skill, and firmly believes that most days are improved by ice cream.
